The Central Dogma of Molecular BiologyThe process of going from DNA to proteins is the unifying theme within the biology world. The structure of DNA was discovered in 1953, and it opened the door to discovering how DNA, protein synthesis, and genetics all fit together. This series of web pages and resources will help you make sense of how the cells are able to take the genetic code that is contained within a gene, and tranlate it into proteins that serve specific functions.
Your journey begins with the introductory Prezi from the menu on the left. Following the Prezi, you should work your way down the list of topics, as they are in chronological order. For a culminating activity, you will work with a small group and create a stopmotion movie that explains either the process of transcription or translation. You can find out more about that project on the Culminating Project page. |
